Is Everyone an Author?

In the introduction of the textbook "Is Everyone an Author" it clearly states that everyone is in fact an author. Many people might think that authors are people who have published books, write newspapers, are poets, or write plays etc. I thought the same way myself before reading this selection. When someone creates a work of literature to be seen by others that is an example of an author. So yes everyone is an author. We are all everyday authors when we turn in writing assignments, posting on social media, sending letters, or even giving a speech. These works of literature are seen by many people making us authors. This very blog makes myself an author. One definition of an author is “an originator or creator of something“(dictionary.reference.com) from this definition one could conclude that we have all been authors since a very young age. From the very first story’s written by children as long as they created it and are the originator makes them an author at a very young age. This book’s introduction has brought a new mindset to myself showing me that almost everyone is or is capable of being an author in one way or another.
